Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
