Three Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Award

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the this year's Young Athlete of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler secured the world title for the first time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The finalists were announced live on a widely-listened-to radio show.

The champion will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on Thursday, 18 December.

The show will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "I'm grateful to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin came in second place in the batting rankings and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it inspires more girls to get into cricket."
