Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run homer in the seventh inning, leading the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series victory in the series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment besides Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked.
The Blue Jays won the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on this Friday.
