Democratic lawmakers have made public a fresh batch of what they termed "disturbing" photographs from the property of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting notably Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 photographs—some of which have been previously circulated—plus another 70 released later on Friday constitute a tiny fraction of the almost 100,000 images handed over to the House oversight committee, which is examining the conduct and connections of Epstein.
The shamed investor died by apparent suicide in a New York detention cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking charges.
Included in the prominent personalities seen in the opening set are celebrities such as film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, originator of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump appears in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are blacked out.
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, charging Democrats of purposefully "choosing" the photographs for political purposes and to "try and create a false storyline."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been time and again refuted," a presidential representative said, maintaining that "the Trump administration has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by repeatedly calling for openness, releasing numerous documents of documents, and demanding additional probes into Epstein's Democrat friends."
The photos were released devoid of explanation, but per a Democratic representative from California and ranking member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's connections to wealthy individuals.
"The moment has come to halt this White House concealment and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he stated in a comment.
The publication of these materials comes as the oversight committee continuing its investigation into the Epstein matter.
